Course Description

In this course, students work from skeletal and planar models, plaster casts, photographic references, and direct observation to break down the basics of portrait structure and proportion. Primarily utilizing drawing materials, student investigations focus on individual features and full portraits in frontal, profile, and three-quarter points of view. Through both individual instruction and group discussion, this course aims to make portraits less intimidating for artists at any level.
